About

The word “Kriterion” comes from the Greek spelling of “Criterion,”

which can be translated as “the standard by which all else may be judged.”

The idea

The idea of the Kriterion Leather Company was born from the minds of a group of New Jersey professionals motivated and inspired to create the perfect products for their prospective industries. What sets Kriterion apart is that every meticulous detail and fork-in-the road decision was resolved through the lens of the customers’ wants and needs, which makes perfect sense. After all, the Company itself was founded by customers.

If the origin story of Kriterion Leather Company was written in the form of a joke, it would start something like: a doctor, a lawyer and an accountant walk into a bar… except they didn’t walk into a bar. They set off on a global adventure, seeking the perfect materials and recruiting the skilled craftsmen necessary to bring their briefcase designs to life. The process took time, with many fits and starts: leather or cloth? If leather, hard or soft? Style? Colors? Design? Should it be unisex? A massive and rewarding undertaking indeed.

handcrafted by artisans

by professionals for professionals

The first product made available to the public is the Brunswick leather briefcase, designed specifically for the discerning functional needs of litigators, deal makers, professors, judges and lobbyists. Made from the finest materials and handcrafted by trusted and experienced artisans. Soon to follow will be the Livingston, a classically styled bag designed for doctors to carry essential medical documents and equipment, and after that the Montclair, for accountants and businessmen and women.

The ultimate goal and result of this passionate endeavor is that for any professional looking for a quality briefcase designed specifically and exclusively for their individual needs, Kriterion is a wise choice. Each product is designed by professionals for professionals to reach the high standards they both desire and deserve.
